In November, when the UAE flag was flying, every corner of this land was soaked with unity and hope. The flag composed of red, green, white and black not only symbolizes courage, prosperity, peace and strength, but also carries the belief that the seven emirates are connected by blood. The peacock lanyard medal unveiled at this year’s National Flag Day celebration, with its unique weaving craftsmanship, turned this belief into a glory within reach. Every strand of gold thread on the peacock lanyard implies the survival wisdom of the desert people. This flower that can still bloom in drought is regarded as a totem of tenacity by the UAE people. The medal lanyard adopts the traditional palm leaf weaving technique, and the interlocking knot pattern is just like the closely intertwined fate of the emirates. When the winner wears it, the metal medal and the flowing golden pattern complement each other, just like the moment when the desert sun illuminates the national flag – it is not only a reward for personal struggle, but also a heritage of the national spirit. Just as the roots of peacock can go deep into the ground to find water, the lanyard medal reminds every citizen: personal achievements are always rooted in the fertile soil of the collective. When the red of the national flag and the gold of the peacock grass overlapped on the podium, we saw an immortal legend woven by a nation with its own hands. This bond of glory is passing the power of the seven stars to every aspiring dreamer.
